We had a weekend with no kiddos so we booked a trip to Nashville. Direct flight. Inexpensive hotel options. And Blaine had never been before! (And to be fair, when Melissa went, the main street was closed down for the NFL draft, so she didn’t really get to experience it).
We knew we didn’t want to spend the whole weekend in Nashville since we don’t love going out to bars, so we also rented a fun little sports car / convertible and explored the state of Tenessee a bit, and ended up in Georgia for a little bit.
After asking Facebook where we should stay while we were there, we ended up staying at the Drury Plaza Hotel which was just a couple blocks off Broadway, but still close enough to everything.
The first day we got there, we walked around Broadway and checked out a few of the bars. Walked down by the river, and found our favorite place to be Printers Alley.
Day 2 started off with some moonshine tasting. From there we went to the Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. It was a perfect day out, and it was nice to be able to learn about the history and see how they lived.
We were hungry for some good BBQ, and the ladies at the winery there told us to check out Edley’s BBQ. And they weren’t wrong. It was so good!
We got tickets to the Bluebird, something Melissa has always wanted to do. We had no idea what to expect since tickets were only $12 a piece. It was an “in the round” evening where we got to listen to 4 different artists and tell stories. It was fascinating. And truly the best part of the trip.
Day 3 was our day of driving across the state. It started out as a 6-8 hour day going 200-300 miles, and we ended up being gone for 12 hours and going over 500 miles. Our intent was to see some of the many waterfalls across Tennessee. We ended up all the way in Chatanooga to check out Ruby Falls, the tallest underground waterfall open to the public in the United States!
